STEALth
We would hold our index fingers up as if they were candles, and sing,
"This little light of mine,
I'm gona let it shine . . .
won't let Satan blow it out!"
(and then blow at our finger tips, quenching the supposed flame).
Our pastor says that we don't know that we don't know what we don't know.
I wonder if we can't see what we don't see what we don't see.
If all we have is the light at the end of our own fingers, we just might be in trouble.
In Ephesians today I was nabbed by the Spirit in 4:17-32, subtitled, "Living as Children of Light." If we are not in the light then we are in darkness. Paul says we can be darkened in understanding, a futility of thinking, of ignorance and loss of sensitivity because of the hardening of our hearts (oh, oh, we're back to our hearts again). This blindness continues on to a 'giving over' or surrendering to indulgence, every kind of impurity, with a 'continual' lust for more.
I imagine a stealth bomber. I'm sure guys think these jets are the coolest, but I get the creeps. They are dark, move silently and reflect radar waves that "lie" about their size. The goal is to "STEAL" something of worth and value. A secret mission, it is furtive, clandestine and must be under cover. Our enemy has stealth. Our enemy is out to steal. He is obviously not of the Light, in the Light or for the Light.
"Won't let Satan blow it out . . . . ?" "Did God really say . . . .?" Only scriptural truth can counter the continuous and stealthy stream of ungodly data that enters our thinking. David says, "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious 'thoughts'. See if there is any offensive way in me." He also understood that "even the darkness will not be dark to You". "Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."
So Father lead us not into temptation, shine on the steps we are taking right now, expose any stealth, deliver us from the evil one and propel us onward into the plans You have for us.
