Remembering Larry Norman (facebook series)

If you enjoy contemporary Christian music, you must know that what you are listening to today is due in no small part to Larry Norman. I mention this because Larry died this week at the age of 60. His pioneering music work, shoulder length golden hair, concerts to Hollywood searchers (of which I was one) was considered by the "mainstay" of his day as, radical. My own home church hosted some of these early concerts. In reading about Larry's life much has been made of his leading another "early voice" of Christian music, Randy Stonehill, to the Lord.. only to have jealousy and misunderstanding create a canyon between what was once two good friends. I stumbled upon Stonehill's web cite and was struck deeply by his balled "Take Me Back" with a new voice in our day, Sarah Groves. Listen to it! Life is short, cross any chasm you have with another with a bridge of love and ask, "Take Me Back".. my heart is full tonight, my face wet because..Jesus always will take you and me back. Good night.
