Two men were traveling on a road, talking about how great the past three years of their lives had been. But then all of a sudden, the very person who had made their lives so great was taken from them. But before Jesus left he promised his friends a power that would help them.
It is not uncommon for people to live between memories of the past and hopes for the future--things that seem to be just out of arm's reach. The travelers mentioned in Luke 24 had forgotten Jesus’ promise of power. The travelers also had slow hearts, Jesus actually said to them that they were slow to learn. (I can relate to that!). But the men also had searching hearts, they asked Jesus questions as they traveled to a nearby town. Ultimately, the men had satisfied hearts, hearts that burned when the Living Word was spoken into their hearts of flesh. You too, may be caught between two points in life right now. Travel with Jesus. Ask Jesus questions and travel long enough to have your heart burn, again.
