Thoughts on freedom (facebook series)
FREEDOM: I opened my bible just before leaving the office. I read, "I am allowed to do anything, but not everything is good for you...don't look what's in it for you, but for what is good for others" (1 Cor. 10.23). Did Paul really mean I could do, "anything"? The answer, "Yes...BUT".. Everybody has a but(t) in their life and everyone's but is different than everybody else's. What is healthy for me may not be healthy for you. But here is what Paul is saying--that thing you are considering doing, how is that action going to help someone else? One other thought, Paul is hinting, there ARE areas for all of us that each of knows we need to stay away from-things that are not good for us. If we are to stay alive in God we must be careful with the "freedom" we have been given and not abuse it-and that's all I got to say about that.
